Click on the image below to watch an interview about one key area of applying the Whole Brain® Advantage.

In this brief video segment, Ann Herrmann-Nehdi interviews Ann-Louise De Boer of Herrmann International Africa about her work in helping leaders apply a Whole Brain® framework to increase their effectiveness as they move up the management pipeline.

40 Ways to Drive the Whole Brain® Advantage

Ned Herrmann, founder of Herrmann International, wrote that the Whole Brain® Model is an organizing principle of how the brain works. When you think of it in those terms, you begin to realize how many ways Whole Brain® Thinking can be applied to drive the Whole Brain® Advantage.

First, what is an organizing principle? Wikipedia defines it this way:

An organizing principle is a core assumption from which everything else by proximity can derive a classification or a value. It is like a central reference point that allows all other objects to be located.

Ned kept a running list of key applications of Whole Brain® Thinking under the organizing principle of the brain, so in honor of his birthday this month and as part of our 30th anniversary celebration this year, we decided to publish a list of 30 applications to drive the Whole Brain® Advantage – a download from “Ned’s head,” so to speak.

But once we started researching it, we found that we couldn’t limit it to 30…

Your Chance To Win! Contribute to the Collective Intelligence of the Whole Brain® Thinking Community

As vast as this list is, we know it’s only the tip of the iceberg, and that’s why we want your input. As an organizing principle, the Whole Brain® Model can help you manage all aspects of your work and personal life, so tell us:

  1. What would you add to this list? How else are you applying Whole Brain® Thinking?
  2. Which one application do you think will be most important to organizational success in 2011?

Visit the Whole Brain® Blog to weigh in on these questions, and you could win an HBDI® Profile Board.

The Profile Board is a great tool for reinforcing the application of Whole Brain® Thinking and organizing team activities and interactions around a central reference point of Whole Brain® Thinking. Two winners will be selected via random drawing from the comments submitted on the blog entry, The Organizing Principle of the Brain (And Our Latest Blog Contest!)

You must submit your comments by March 18, 2011, to be eligible to win, but we hope you’ll continue to contribute to the collective intelligence of the Whole Brain® Thinking community by adding to the list as you come up with new applications.

> More to come: We’re also working on a sortable tool that will give you quick access to the reference information related to these applications in Ned’s books, “The Creative Brain” and “The Whole Brain® Business Book.” Look for information about the availability of this tool in a future issue of BrainBytes™.

And if you don’t already have a copy of these two landmark books, be sure to take advantage of our special 2–for–$30 set price while it’s still available.
